Area Attractions Family fun is just around the corner. Big or small, this area will suit everyone's taste for adventure. With exciting wildlife for every season. Your family won't know when to quit. Enjoy outdoor activities like mountain biking, dirt biking, four wheeling (ATV), kayaking, fishing (ice fishing too), hiking, swimming, cliff diving, golfing, shopping, boating, hunting, skiing (cross country and downhill), dog sledding, and ice skating. The fun doesn't stop, and the good times keep on rolling. Also traveling along the highway 61 is exciting enough, with some of the best tourist views and landmarks along the lake, such as the well-known Split Rock Lighthouse, Gooseberry Falls, Tettegouche State Park, or the Palasade Head Cliff Face. An abundance of wildlife and scenery can be seen at almost any time of the year in this north woods jungle.
Split Rock Lighthouse and Split Rock River Split Rock Light House is a well-known historic house open year round and only 5 miles away from Windsong Cottages.
Gooseberry Falls is very well-known for it's spectacular flow of water through the river gorge into Lake Superior. There are upper, lower, and middle falls to be explored, as well as plenty of hiking trails in the area.
Superior National Golf Course, Lakeview National Golf Course, GunFlint Hills Golf Course, and Silver Bay Municipal Golf Course Enjoy local golfing at one of many courses in the north shore area. Warm up at Lutsen's Superor National, then take it to one of our remote 18 hole, par five's like Lakeview National, GunFlint Hills, or Silver Bay.
Snowmobiling and Superior Hiking Trails Not into skiing or snowboarding? Rent a snowmobile or all-terrain vehicle (ATV). Many are available for rent from the Beaver Bay Sport Shop. Some of Minnesota's best trails are located at Gichi-Gami State Park and Lutsen Mountains. Also rental mountain bikes can be acquired at Lutsen Mountains.
Lutsen Resort & Lutsen Mountains, Spirit Mountain, and Giants Ridge Family Skiing and Snowboarding at 3 major ski resorts: Lutsen Mountians, Spirit Mountain, and Giants Ridge. All three resorts are no more than forty miles from away Windsong. After a long day on the slopes, lie in the Jacuzzi and look out over the lake.
